Helping Hands
When I was a child
My mother never taught me to care
As the years went by
I never understood why that should be a dare
I understand the reasons today
Why love is dangerous and cruel
But I never hesitate to say
If you don't love, you're simply a fool
You might get hurt
You might feel like dying
But you'll never be happy
If you're not even trying
God knows I've been
hurt
Felt like my heart was ripped out
Screamed at people
Banged my hands against the wall
But that the pain would diminish
The swallowing fall
That was never a doubt
I've felt unloved,
unwanted and torn
I've had pills in my hand
I've hurt so much I couldn't take any more
But as a cat, it's on our feet we land
It might look bad
today
even worse tomorrow
But before you know it
Someone helps you with the sorrow
So don't close your
heart
You'll need that helping friend
And when the lift you with a smile
It'll all feel better in the end |
